Rock music from the early 2000s doesn’t get enough credit. New genres were popping up left and right, and even the more pop-leaning rock hits of the decade were very, very addicting. Unfortunately, some of the best songs from that era have been somewhat forgotten by the mainstream and then-fans alike. Let’s refresh your memory with 10 of the best forgotten rock songs from the 2000s!

1. “All You Wanted” by Michelle Branch

The girls and the gays probably didn’t forget about this iconic 2001 track from singer/songwriter Michelle Branch. However, in general, it doesn’t get quite as much airplay as it used to. It’s one of the best pop-rock songs from the 2000s and deserves to be treated as such!

2. “Roller Coaster” by Blink-182

Who doesn’t love a classic punk rock song about being in love? Blink-182 delivered a few major hits once the 1990s wrapped, but “Roller Coaster” is one of their most underrated.

3. “Sugarcoat” by Breaking Benjamin

This wouldn’t be a list of forgotten and underappreciated rock songs from the 2000s without mentioning Breaking Benjamin’s 2002 hit, “Sugarcoat”. Few alt-rock outfits could tell a story quite like them.

4. “Piazza, New York Catcher” by Belle & Sebastian

This fascinating 2003 track from Belle & Sebastian has everything you could want in a rock song. It has brain-poking lyrics, great instrumentation, and that easy-to-identify 2000s indie pop-rock sound.

5. “Riot” by Three Days Grace

This rebellious tune from 2006 was one of Three Days Grace’s best tracks. If you were an angsty teen during this particular era of music, you probably already know the words by heart.

6. “Kryptonite” by 3 Doors Down

2000 was 3 Doors Down’s year, and “Kryptonite” is one of their most well-known songs. However, we think the breakthrough single deserves more love today.

“Change (In The House Of Flies)” by Deftones is one of the band’s less sensual hits from the 2000s. Still, they knew how to add rock elements and ambiance together in a way that made them stand out, and you can hear it clearly on this track.

8. “Bodies” by Drowning Pool

“Bodies” is considered by many to be Drowning Pool’s breakthrough hit that finally got them mainstream attention. If you were around in 2001 when it was first released, you’re probably surprised to see it on a list of “forgotten” rock songs. However, there are quite a few youngins’ running around who have never heard the iconic line “let the bodies hit the floor”, nor have they ever heard of Drowning Pool.

9. “Blurry” by Puddle Of Mudd

The early 2000s was the heyday of nu-metal, and Puddle of Mudd was just one of many bands that produced excellent songs in the genre. “Blurry” is one of their more underrated, softer tracks.

10. “The Red” by Chevelle

This Chevelle song from 2002 got the band mainstream attention, and it makes sense why. It’s an infectious, addicting song that you’d think more people would remember by heart.
