4 Albums That Show Why Vince Gill Is a Guitar Legend

Vince Gill is on another level as a guitarist and vocalist, as well as a songwriter. These four albums are some of Vince Gillโ€™s very best, and we think they show off his prowess as a guitar legend quite beautifully. Letโ€™s dive in, shall we?

1. โ€˜These Daysโ€™

These Days could easily be considered one of the best albums of the 21st century, or at the very least the early 2000s. Released in 2006, this stunning record features the full breadth of Gillโ€™s talents as a musician and songwriter, with traditional country tracks to songs with elements of jazz, bluegrass, and even rock.ย

It makes sense why this record was nominated for two Grammy Awards, and why itโ€™s considered one of the greatest country albums of the decade.

2. โ€˜When I Call Your Nameโ€™

Vince Gillโ€™s albums are always a treat to enjoy, but nothing matches his late-1980s and early 1990s eras. When I Call Your Name came out in 1989 and was a more country-pop-leaning record for the guitarist and singer, and it works brilliantly for his particular talents.

This album is loaded with sonically gorgeous hits, from โ€œNever Aloneโ€ to โ€œNever Knew Lonelyโ€ to โ€œOklahoma Swingโ€.

3. โ€˜When Love Finds Youโ€™

An excellent record from one of Vince Gillโ€™s very best eras, When Love Finds You was released in 1994. This country album boasts some of Gillโ€™s best vocal and very best guitar performances. You canโ€™t beat the hits on this record, from โ€œWhenever You Come Aroundโ€ (famously written about his wife, Amy Grant) to โ€œGo Rest High On That Mountainโ€.

If youโ€™re a diehard Gill fan, youโ€™ve probably memorized the entirety of this album. Gillโ€™s electric guitar solos on โ€œWhenever You Come Aroundโ€, โ€œYou Better Think Twiceโ€, and โ€œWhat The Cowgirls Doโ€ are insanely impressive.

4. โ€˜The Keyโ€™

The Key is one of the best Vince Gill albums out there. And it also happens to be Gillโ€™s very first no. 1 country music album. You might recall this album featuring a stunning duet with Patty Loveless, titled โ€œMy Kind Of Woman/My Kind Of Manโ€.ย

Released in 1998, The Key features stunning string work from Gill in the form of the acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and mandolin.
