If youโve ever been in a band, youโre probably more than familiar with the feeling of hating at least one of your songs. Itโs an unavoidable part of being an artist. And with a discography as rich as The Beatlesโ, it only makes sense that there would be a few songs that the Fab Fourโs members hated. Letโs look at four examples! They might just surprise you.
1. โDig A Ponyโ
This track from Let It Be by The Beatles is one of many songs that John Lennon openly admitted that he hated. At the time, he was dealing with drug addiction and was more or less done with The Beatles as a band. He likely wasnโt fond of a lot of the music that made it to those particular sessions. According to Lennon, he hated โDig A Ponyโ, a more or less nonsensical song that he described as โa piece of garbageโ.ย

2. โHold Me Tightโ
Paul McCartney rarely had a bad thing to say about the Fab Fourโs music. However, there have been a few songs through the years that he just didnโt vibe with. A song would have to be particularly bad for McCartney to even mention it, but he did mention โHold Me Tightโ. Specifically, he said that he couldnโt remember very much about the song.
โCertain songs were just โworkโ songsโฆ you havenโt got much of a memory of them,โ said McCartney. Lennon had an even worse sentiment for this track, saying it was โa pretty poor song.โ
3. โMaxwellโs Silver Hammerโ
Paul McCartney notably loved this song and wanted it to be perfect. However, the band as a whole was sick of his pursuit of musical perfection, and they particularly hated โMaxwellโs Silver Hammerโ. John Lennon told Playboy that he hated the song because McCartney โmade [them] do it a hundred million times.โ Ringo Starr and George Harrison agreed that it was โthe worst session ever.โ
4. โGood Morning Good Morningโ
Yet another song that Lennon didnโt love was โGood Morning Good Morningโ from Sgt. Pepper. Itโs definitely not the strongest track on that album, but Lennon was pretty raw about how much he hated it. He said that it was โgarbageโ and simply came to be because Lennon had a song due and a Corn Flakes commercial came on.
โItโs a throwaway, a piece of garbage, I always thought,โ Lennon said in an interview in 1980. โI always had the TV on very low in the background when I was writing, and it came over, and then I wrote the song.โ
