Mick Jagger is the definition of a rock star. As such, he has a lot of stories to tell about his decades with The Rolling Stones. And some of those stories are about as wild as youโd expect, filled with drugs, pranks, and general debauchery. Letโs look at a few stories from Mick Jaggerโs touring days, shall we?
1. That Awful Van Halen Prank
Van Halen opened for The Rolling Stones back in 1981. Allegedly, Michael Anthony broke a string and had his tech, Kevin Dugan, run backstage to find a replacement. Dugan ran into Mick Jagger and in his speedy pursuit of a replacement string, knocked Jagger flat on his butt. Dugan didnโt even realize that Jagger was the one he knocked over.

Jagger never forgot. Years later, they crossed paths again during a recording session in Los Angeles. Dugan was asked by Jim Barber to pick Jagger up from the airport. Upon his arrival, Dugan was snatched into a limo. Jagger, quite solumely, said โIf you ever knock me on my ass again, Iโll have you killed!โ while grabbing Duganโs shirt. Naturally, Dugan was terrified. Then the window rolled down, and there were short of a dozen people outside of the limo laughing and shouting, โWe got you!โ I, personally, would have cried.
2. The Time He Bought a Mansion While High on LSD
When youโre filthy rich and have boundless access to illicit substances, why not buy a whole mansion while tripping? Thatโs precisely what Mick Jagger did back in 1970. Jagger purchased the mansion from one Sir Henry Carden for about $73,000 while high as a kite on acid. Naturally, he was surprised when he woke up the next morning and realized he was suddenly in possession of a run-down estate.
It worked out, though. Jagger cleaned the property up and turned it into a recording studio. The Stones recorded parts of Exile On Main Street and Sticky Fingers there.
3. The Time He Admitted He Was a Fan of Margaret Thatcher
Thatโs not very punk rock of you, Mick Jagger. Itโs wild that Jagger never caught a stray from a miner or two in Northern England after saying that he didnโt mind former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
โIn the 80s or early 90s I met her a couple of times,โ Jagger said, following Thatcherโs death. โI donโt want to talk about what we talked about, especially now that everybody else is blabbing about her. But I was slightly surprised by all the people that were still so anti her and had all this residual resentment.โ
4. The Time He Left Angelina Jolie on a Date
Angelina Jolie was considered the most beautiful woman on the planet for the better part of a decade. However, this entry on our list of Mick Jagger stories proves that some rock stars really donโt care. According to Christopher Andersonโs book, Mick: The Wild Life And Mad Genius Of Jagger, Jolie once went on a date with Jagger. The two attended a party, and everything seemed to be going well.ย
However, Jagger would later disappear that night in order to have a one-night stand with fellow actress Farah Fawcett. Surprisingly, Jolie and Jagger would continue their affair for two years.
