Grunge band Nirvanaโs discography isnโt exactly large, but itโs large enough to host a few deep cuts that even diehard fans may have never heard before. Letโs take a look at just a few Nirvana deep cuts that we think are worth discovering (or revisiting)!
1. โOld Ageโ
โOld Ageโ is a rare example of Nirvanaโs more relaxed side, as well as Kurt Cobainโs sentimentality. This outtake from Nevermind could easily be the bandโs most underrated track, but thatโs completely up to fan opinion. Those hooks are on another level, though.

2. โCurmudgeonโ
This B-side to โLithiumโ deserves way more love, and we have to say it is one of our favorite Nirvana deep cuts out there. โCurmudgeonโ is a raw, energetic track that could have easily ended up on In Utero. Nirvana doesnโt have many songs one could describe as anthems, but this one comes close.
3. โI Hate Myself And Want To Dieโ
This โPennyroyal Teaโ B-side is on the more playful side of Nirvanaโs discographyโฆ if you consider distorted guitars, gritty lyrics, and dark song titles playful. Fun fact: โI Hate Myself And Want To Dieโ was originally going to be In Uteroโs album title.
4. โOpinionโ
Out of all the Nirvana deep cuts on this list, โOpinionโ is a little bit of a mystery. This song was never recorded in a studio, and it was never performed at any of Nirvanaโs live shows. There are a few post-Cobain versions of it, but the true version is a bootlegged solo demo that Cobain played on a radio show.
Itโs a stellar song about Cobainโs dislike for the media, and itโs a great example of what the famed frontman could do with just his voice and an acoustic guitar. Though, we already know that from MTV Unplugged.
5. โVerse Chorus Verseโ
Nirvana deep cuts donโt get better than this, folks. โVerse Chorus Verseโ is an outtake from Nevermind that never made it to the album, but itโs become quite a fan favorite over the last couple of decades. Fortunately, this charming track was released with the bandโs With The Lights Out comp album.
