5 Y2K One-Hit Wonders of the 2000s That Still Slap

The 2000s were (arguably, at least to non-Millenials) the funnest time for pop music, hip-hop, and beyond. With that in mind, these five Y2K one-hit wonders from the 2000s had some pretty killer songs. And we think they should have been bigger than their solitary charting hit. Let’s take a walk down Y2K memory lane, shall we?

1. “Get Over Yourself” by Eden’s Crush (2001)

Remember this short-lived girl group? Eden’s Crush got their big break from the WB reality competition series Popstars. They had some pretty substantial success with the song “Get Over Yourself” in 2001. The song made it to no. 8 on the Hot 100. 

However, the group broke up in 2002 with only one album and one single to their name. We’re not sure what happened. However, member Nicole Scherzinger went on to join The Pussycat Dolls and climb the charts yet again.

2. “Move Ya Body” by Nina Sky (2004)

You don’t really see identical twins as pop music duos anymore. These one-hit wonders from 2000s performed under Nina Sky and had one major hit with “Move Ya Body” in 2004. Though, they were also featured in N.O.R.E.’s hit “Oye Mi Canto”, which made it to the Top 20 on the Hot 100. Still, this girl group never had as big of a hit again.

3. “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus (2000)

There’s nothing that sounds like the early 2000s quite like “Teenage Dirtbag” by Wheatus. This alt-rock pop-leaning track is incredibly nostalgic, and even younger generations love it. “Teenage Dirtbag” went viral on TikTok not that long ago.

“A Little Respect” from 2001 did decently outside of the US, but Wheatus never saw success in the US again after “Teenage Dirtbag”.

4. “Don’t Think I’m Not” by Kandi (2000)

Whatever happened to Kandi?! This is one entry on our list of Y2K one-hit wonders from the 2000s that really should have made it bigger. However, she did get an additional taste of fame on The Real Housewives Of Atlanta. That being said, kids from the 2000s remember her for “Don’t Think I’m Not” and as a member of the 90s girl group Xscape.

“Don’t Think I’m Not” hit no. 24 on the Hot 100 and elsewhere, but Kandi never had another song chart on the Hot 100 again.

5. “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt (2004)

James Blunt became a bit of a meme after this song came out, but one can’t deny that it’s honestly a beautiful pop rock track. Out of all the one-hit wonders from the 2000s out there, it’s kind of surprising that James Blunt technically fits the bill, despite having such a successful career. 

“You’re Beautiful” made it to no. 1 back in 2005. Surprisingly, Blunt never had another Top 60 song in the US again, though he continued to have a lot of success in the UK.
