No matter the time, place, venue, or even genre of music, every fan remembers their first concert. The excitement of finding their seat, the sea of fans surrounding them as the lights go out, and the singerโs intro. The entire experience will always leave a lasting impression. For one elderly country music fan, she will never forget her first concert when she received a warm embrace from Thomas Rhett. And if that wasnโt enough, she decided to plant a kiss on his cheek to make sure he never forgot either.
Hitting the road with his Better in Boots Tour, Rhett recently performed at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. While taking the stage, the singer noticed a fan holding up a sign that read, โMy mom is 87 years old and this is her first country concert.โ Excited to be part of the womanโs first country concert, Rhett decided to make it extra special when he jumped the barricade and offered her a warm hug.

Just a few seconds later, the elderly woman offered Rhett a kiss on the cheek. And shortly after that kiss, Rhett asked for another as the crowd around them cheered in excitement. Already making its rounds on TikTok and social media, fans commented on the moment, writing, โThis is so awesome.โ Another person added, โThe respect the rest of the crowd gave to just let this happen is amazing!! He came over for one reason and everyone let him just do that one thing. That is so awesome.โ

Fan Explains How Special The Moment Was With Thomas Rhett
As for the woman holding up the sign that caught Rhettโs attention, it happened to be the elderly womanโs daughter. Posting a video of how it all happened, the daughter said, โWhen I got there, I showed the people around me, they were like 20 and 30 something year olds. I loved everybody around me. It was so much fun. And so when he came out, everybodyโs like, โput the sign up. Put the sign up.โ And I was like, โnot yet. Not yet.โ So he came around a couple of times on our side. I was in third row, and I put it up and I donโt think he saw it.โ
Not knowing if Rhett would see the sign, she decided to keep trying. โThen the one time that I put it up, everybody was pointing at me. and he saw it. His eyes got real wide so then I put it down, and then this was halfway into the concert sort of, heโs like, โwhereโs that girl with that sign?โ And I was like, oh my God. I put it up and he started reading it. And then thatโs what ensued.โ
Explaining how special the moment was, the woman declared, โThat made my momโs entire life, and Iโm not even kidding. It made mine too. Thank you so much, Mr. Thomas Rhett. You are awesome. Big fan.โ
