American Songwriter’s Grammy Wrap-Up

Last night’s Grammy Awards featured a number of surprises, one of which was how often the show’s producers were willing to go back to the same well; Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters and Chris Brown each performed twice over the show’s three-and-a-half hours.

The Beach Boys reunion was decent, although Brian Wilson looked a little freaked out. The Glen Campbell tribute was a hoot, with a feisty Campbell, who clearly still has his performing chops, adding fun asides during a Blake Shelton and Band Perry-assisted “Rhinestone Cowboy.” And Paul McCartney started out shaky but ended strong on his show-closing Abbey Road medley, bringing out Joe Walsh, Dave Grohl, and show-opener Bruce Springsteen to trade guitar pyrotechnics. Justin Vernon of Bon Iver’s non-acceptance speech for Best New Artist was a throwback to indie rock’s glory days. And how about that Adele?

Find out who won below, and check out some of our recent coverage of those who partook in music’s biggest night.
