
The 2016 Americana Honors & Awards will air on PBS November 19 at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT.
The star-studded show, which was held at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on September 21, features performances and collaborations from some of the finest in American roots music.
Jason Isbell, who took home theย show’sย Album and Song of the Year honors, performs the Something More Than Free cut โIf It Takes A Lifetimeโ alongside his wife Amanda Shires and the 400 Unit.ย Duo/Group of theย Year winners Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell perform โBring It On Home to Memphisโ from The Traveling Kind, and Emerging Artist Award-winner Margo Price performsย โTennessee Songโ from her acclaimed debutย Midwest Farmer’s Daughter.
The night was also filled with tributes to some of the genre’s late icons. Grateful Dead legendย Bob Weir, who was the 2016ย Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree for Performance, covered Merle Haggard’s “Mama Tried,” with Steve Earle and Alison Krauss following with tributes to Guy Clark and Ralph Stanley, respectively.
Additionally, the night featured performances from Americana and country A-listersย including George Strait, Bonnie Raitt andย Dwight Yoakam. Younger artists such as the Lumineers,ย Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats andย Parker Millsap also performed.
The evening, which was hosted by Jim Lauderdale, featured a house band led by Buddy Miller thatย included producerย Dave Cobb, Stuart Duncan, Fred Eltringham, Steve Fishell, Matt Rollings, Chris Wood and gospel quartet the McCrary Sisters.
The special, which will air as a tie-in to the Austin City Limits program, is billed as ACL Presents: Americana Music Festival 2016ย and will be available online for a limited time afterwards.
