While a right of passage for country singers, the Grand Ole Opry helped artists launch their careers. Giving them a chance to perform on one of the oldest stages in country music, the Opry recently crossed its 100th anniversary. Such an important moment in the venueโs history and country music, NBC turned to Blake Shelton to host Opry 100: A Live Celebration. With stars like Reba McEntire and Post Malone making appearances, โthe Queen of Christian Popโ, Amy Grant, returned to the stage to offer her thanks to the legacy of the Opry but wasn’t alone.ย
Throughout the celebration, the Opry not only looked back on its own history but those who once played at the venue like Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Johnny Cash. Excited to be part of such a memorable moment for country music, Grant appeared right at home when she took the stage to perform. And with decades worth of experience, she didnโt disappoint she was introduced by the powerful, truly-inspiring duo of the War and Treaty. Completely taking the entre Opry to church, Yolando Adams joined the performers to cover songs like “How Great Thou Art.”

Amy Grant Recalls First Time Meeting Husband Vince Gill
While continuing to expand her own career, Grant eventually fell in love with Vince Gill, who she married in 2000. Having shared their love for over two decades, Grant remembered meeting her future love for the first time when she was invited to be part of his Christmas TV special. Somewhat nervous, Gill made the rising star feel welcomed. โI just walked into the rehearsal space and Vince came over and put his arm around me and said, โHey, unknit that brow, itโs going to be okay.โ I remember saying, โWow, thank you for saying that.โโ
As for Gill, he had a completely different reaction, explaining how Grantโs beauty stunned him. โI just remember the smile. Thatโs all I can remember. It was a staggering smile that just stopped me in my tracks. And that had never happened to me before like that.โ
Appearing to be love at first sight, the two went on to share a family, music, and the stage as their love helped inspire and navigate the singer over the last two decades.
