Congratulations to Kenny Rogers, Bobby Bare and Cowboy Jack Clement, the latest inductees into the Country Music Hall Of Fame. The three musicians will join the ranks of such country music luminaries as Hank Williams, Roy Acuff and Willie Nelson.
The Hall uses different categories for their electees — Rogers will be inducted under the โModern Era Artistโ category,ย Bare will be inducted in the โVeterans Era Artistโ category, and Clement (famous for his songwriting and producing career working with artists like Cash, Charlie Pride and U2) will be inducted in the โNon-Performerโ category.
Bare and Rogers expressed gratitude for their inductions, while Clement, who is known among his friends and fans as a character, to say the least, had a different reaction.
โWhen I was young, my dad said, โSon, you have to think big to accomplish smallโ and the Country Music Hall of Fame was as big as it gets,โ said Rogers in a statement.ย โHe wanted that for me.ย So every record Iโve ever made, every concert Iโve performed, and every song Iโve written was done for the single purpose of achieving that goal.”
Adds Bare, โThis is big โ an honor and the validation of a dream, totally unexpected,โ said Bare. โNow Iโll be famous forever. Thanks to all of my supporters and thank you CMA.โ
โIโve been chosen for the Country Music Hall of Fame? I thought I was already in the Hall of Fame,โ Clement said. โI could have gotten in there any time I wanted. Kyle [Young, Director] gave me a key.โ
The induction ceremony will take place later this year at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.
