In a message sent to fans, posted on their MySpace blog and copied on their official website today, North Carolina quartet The Avett Brothers announced departure from long-time label Ramseur Records for a deal with Columbia’s American Recordings.

The legendary Rick Rubin, with whom the Avettโ€™s have already begun recording a fifth-full length album, heads-up American Recordings. Founded by Columbia in 1988 and home to the Black Crowes and Johnny Cash, among other notables, the Avettโ€™s are excited about the major deal. โ€œIt is our distinct pleasure and honor,โ€ they announced, โ€œto be in such fine company as we build and bring this most current chapter of songs to fruition.โ€

Despite the new union, the Avettโ€™s were clear to point out their ongoing loyalty to and relationship with Ramseur Records. โ€œThere have been and will be no hard feelings or abandon-based resentment from either party involved. The Avett and Ramseur camps remain strongly and truthfully connected, both personally and professionally.โ€ Ramseur Records, in turn, โ€œwill continue to proudly represent them as their management company and canโ€™t wait to see what the future holds.โ€

Even considering this โ€œmost noteworthy of present developments,โ€ it is each show on their relentless touring schedule that brings the Avett crew closer and closer to stardom. In addition to its words for Ramseur, the group reiterated a pledge of continuing loyalty to fans that fill each and every venue. โ€œFor all of you who have gone to such great lengths to show your appreciation, we continue in our most sincere efforts to return the sentimentโ€ฆ the music would go nowhere without you.โ€

Seth Avett recently toldย American Songwriterย that the group hopes to release its next full-length by early 2009, and what a landmark record it looks to be. Also mentioned in the conversation was an upcoming all-Avett gospel album, featuring Scott and Seth Avett, their sister and father.
