Last year, Benjamin Tod surprised fans with his solo album Shooting Star. The album’s honky tonk sound was a large departure from his usual solo acoustic releases and his work with Lost Dog Street Band. After hearing the album, many wondered if it was a one-off experiment or if the release marked a new chapter in the singer/songwriter’s career. Yesterday (March 24), he shed some light on the future when he announced his next album.
Tod didn’t share many details about the album. He didn’t give a title, release date, or tracklist. However, he did give his fans and followers a peek at the direction he plans to go with the upcoming release. “I’ve decided the songwriter record will be a double LP or 20 tracks,” Tod announced. “The first 10 tracks will be with a full band cut in Nashville with Bomb Shelter Studio, and the second 10 tracks will be the same songs cut live and raw with Matt Heckler up here in Muhlenberg,” he added.

Tod worked with producer Andrija Tokic at Bomb Shelter Studio for Shooting Star. So, fans who enjoyed that album will likely enjoy the sound of the forthcoming release.
Benjamin Tod on His Next Solo Album
Fans may be excited to hear that a new solo Benjamin Tod album is coming, but they’re likely not as excited as he is about making it. “I’m ecstatic for this release and a return to art in its purest form,” he wrote in the post. “More than anything, that’s what I gained from last year. It was wonderful running the table with releases and big live shows, but I’m ready for another record that gets to the meat of the craft,” he added.
“At the end of the day, I am a songwriter who built a career singing about the real trials of life with vulnerability and transparency. This will be my greatest work to date,” he concluded.
The post also included a rough snippet from the upcoming album, giving listeners a small taste of what they can expect in the coming months.
