With January marking a devastating month for Los Angeles as wildfires ripped through the city, first responders finally contained the flames just last week. As the smoke cleared, families began to travel back to their homes, finding nothing by ash. While families deal with the pain of rebuilding their homes and lives, the music industry raised over $100 million during their FireAid benefit concert. But for Billie Eilish, she went far beyond performing as she teamed up with Meghan Markle to help a teenager replace one of her most prized possessions.ย
Wanting to help those in need, Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, traveled to Altadena and met a family that lost everything. Sharing her experience on social media, Markle recalled how she noticed a teenager looking over the rumble for her favorite shirt. It just happened to be a shirt she received at an Eilish concert. Sadly, Markle added, โAnd of course they now see their home and the washing machine [and] the dryer are ashโฆ theyโre not there anymore.โ

Using her power of stardom, Markle jumped into action, trying her best to get in touch with Eilish to try and make the teenager smile once again. Although she didnโt know Eilish, she knew Adam Levine and his wife, Behati Prinsloo. Recording a quick voice message, it seemed it eventually found its way to Eilish, who sent way more than a shirt.ย

Flipping through all the gifts the singer sent for the girl, Markle showed her excitement. โThis is going to mean so much to her.โ She continued, โTo everyone who is showing up for people in big and small ways to get through whatโs happened in California. Just thank you so much. Iโm going to go and email her mom now. Just wanted to share that with you guys.โ
Outside of her willingness to help others, Markle called for people to do the same, writing in the caption, โLetโs keep supporting those affected by the California wildfires. Thanks to everyone who made this possible but most importantly, thank you to our first responders who are the communityโs real heroes.โ
