Just last month, the music industry took a moment to honor the rich legacy of Ozzy Osbourne when the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted him as a solo artist. Already having found a spot in the Rock Hall thanks to his time with Black Sabbath, the organization welcomed stars like Billy Idol, Jelly Roll, and even Jack Black to celebrate the Prince of Darkness. But while the night celebrated Ozzyโs career, it seemed that Bob Daisley wasn’t all that surprised he wasnโt mentioned during his acceptance speech.ย
For those who might need a refresher, Daisley is a bassist who worked with bands like Black Sabbath. He also nurtured a working relationship with Ozzy. He even helped write a great deal of Ozzyโs songs during the early years of his solo career. Speaking with Tone-Talk about the induction ceremony, Daisley said, โTo be honest with you, I didn’t expect to be mentioned, only because of the dirty water that’s gone under the bridge between us. And how Lee Kerslake and I have been taken out of photographs, been taken out of films, had credits removed, had photographs removed, all that stuff.โ

Knowing the role he played in Ozzyโs career, Daisley compared their relationship to Elton John and Bernie Taupin. โSomebody used a good analogy about my situation with that, and that was in comparison with Elton John and Bernie Taupin, that all those songs were written, lyrically, by Bernie Taupin and Elton John wrote the music. And it was a similar situation with [me and Ozzy] โ I wrote all the lyrics for those albums and songs.”

Bob Daisley Said Ozzy Osbourne Looked “Unwell”
With Daisley not too concerned about the Rock Hall induction, the musician did point to his concern about Ozzyโs health. “He looked unwell. He looked unhappy. And I don’t get off on seeing people, regardless of who they are or what they’ve done, looking unwell or looking unhappy or whatever. He probably just went through the motions.โ
In the end, Daisley wasnโt all that surprised over the ceremony or speech. โIt’s kind of what I expected. I didn’t expect to be mentioned or anything. Regardless of how important my role was or what I created or helped to create or whatever, I really didn’t expect to even get a mentionโฆ I mean, it would have been nice.”
