Self-described diet punk band Guardrail has signed to Richmond-based label Open Your Ears Records, and recently released their new EP Yikes. Additionally, the band have announced that they will be donating a portion of sales in support of the Milwaukee Freedom Fund: bit.ly/mkefreedomfund.
“We’re getting older. It sucks,”the band shares on the new EP.“Is this really it? It feels like we’re missing something. Rather than a bright future, we inherited a broken planet and a broken system. We keep waiting for it to get better, but will it ever get better?”
Guardrail is a band from Chicago, IL consisting of Kevin Andrew (vocals), Ken Ugel (guitar), Alyssa Leassig (bass, vocals), and Doug Brand ( drums). The band initially began calling themselves”diet punk” as a joke, but eventually they started to own it. They’re not exactly“punk” in the traditional sense, though it’s their biggest influence. They’re just here to sing happy songs about not-so-happy things, marinated in Jeppson’s Malört and positive energy.
