From the press release:

Bug Music Publishing, the largest independent contemporary music publisher in the world, has signed a new publishing deal with Paul Westerberg, solo artist, songwriter and front man of the seminal alt-rock group The Replacements, it was announced today by Bug Music CEO John Rudolph.

Under the terms of the deal, Bug Music and Westerberg have entered into a publishing agreement encompassing Westerbergโ€™s recordings with The Replacements, solo works and future recordings.

โ€œWe look forward to working with Paulโ€™s Replacements and solo catalogs,โ€ said Eddie Gomez, Sr. VP of Creative Services, Bug Music. โ€œPaul is a major link in a respected chain of modern songwriters and his songwriting continues to resonate and influence a whole new generation of listeners.โ€

“To be a musician, performer, and songwriter is a juggling act,โ€ said Westerberg. โ€œThrow in the bowling ball of publisher and it becomes downright work. The good people at Bug Music – I hear only of their imagination and proficiency – have stepped in to facilitate with Dry Wood, Elegant Mule, and Nah Music, leaving me free to augment my juggling feat with the flaming chain saw of snooker.”

Forming The Replacements in the early 80s, Westerberg and the group quickly became criticโ€™s darlings releasing seven albums on the Twin/Tone and Sire record labels. To this day, they are hailed as one of the most influential acts of the alt-rock scene. Disbanding The Replacements in 1991, Westerberg continued on as a solo artist. Notably known for his musical contributions to the cult-classic film โ€œSingles,โ€ Westerbergโ€™s music has been featured in nearly a dozen movies and soundtracks. Over the years, Westerberg would also go on to release a string of solo albums; โ€œ14 Songs,โ€ โ€œEventually,โ€ โ€œSuicaine Gratification,โ€ as well as the acclaimed return-to-form double album โ€œMono/Stereo,โ€ followed by โ€œCome Feel Me Tremble,โ€ โ€œFolkerโ€ and most recently the โ€œOpen Seasonโ€ soundtrack and โ€œ49:00.โ€
