Carly Pearce Is Absolutely Crushing It Despite Pericarditis Diagnosis

Back in May of this year, country star Carly Pearce openly discussed her diagnosis of pericarditis with fans. Pericarditis, for the uninformed, is a heart condition that causes swelling and irritation of the tissue around the heart. The condition can cause a whole host of issues, namely chest pain and pain in the surrounding areas.

Most individuals with this condition can lead normal lives and be prescribed medication to keep the inflammation at bay. However, for someone who sings live and puts a lot of pressure on that area of the body (specifically the chest and lungs), pericarditis can pose a few significant roadblocks in singing.

“So if my shows look a little different, just know it’s because I have to keep my heart rate under control right now,” Pearce said after being vulnerable about her diagnosis with fans. “That doesn’t mean that I’m not gonna be completely fine, it just means that right now I’ve got to really take this seriously.”

The following September, Carly Pearce briefly talked about how she was doing since she was diagnosed with pericarditis.

“I’m doing a lot better, still on medicine, just taking it one day at a time, but doing better!” said Pearce at the People’s Choice Country Awards.

Carly Pearce Isn’t Letting Pericarditis Get In The Way of Her Career

We have to hand it to Pearce for using her platform to help others feel a little less alone. According to a recent update from Pearce, it looks like she’s still on medication for the heart condition. But that’s not stopping her from continuing her powerhouse international tour and singing a stunning duet with Michael Buble.

The pair performed their duet “Maybe This Christmas” on a recent episode of NBC’s competition show The Voice, where Michael Buble is also part of the coaching panel.

As for her tour, Pearce isn’t letting her health get in the way of her excitement.

“From the visuals, to the intention of the set list, to the experience, I think fans are going to see even more just how much storytelling and songwriting means to me,” Pearce told Taste Of Country before getting quite deep. “I truly am a simple girl, that just for whatever reason got to live out her dream… A simple girl that hopefully makes a difference.”

We’re looking forward to seeing what Pearce will do next. She’s nothing if not inspiring!
