However, those who enjoy some sickeningly sweet pop music from that era might just be able to sing along with our top picks. 1. “Trouble” by Shampoo
This bubblegum pop-rock tune comes from one of the most underrated yet still thoroughly loved bubblegum pop duos of all time, Shampoo.

“Trouble” was the duo’s debut single from We Are Shampoo in 1994. It became quite a huge Top 20 hit in the UK, Europe, and Canada. It infected radio stations everywhere that year. Even if you don’t know every word to this song, you at least likely know that repetitive “Uh oh, we’re in trouble” by heart.
2. “MMMBop” by Hanson
Now this is the ultimate entry on any list of bubblegum pop songs from the 1990s. Kids loved it, and many adults who had to listen to it on repeat hated it ferociously. Either way, this teen pop track was a massive hit when it was first released back in 1997.
“MMMBop” was Hanson’s biggest single and reached no. 1 in over a dozen countries that year. If you love candy-coated songs from a very specific era of boy bands, this hit is worth revisiting.
3. “Wannabe” by Spice Girls
Some would describe this Spice Girls hit from the 1990s as dance-pop, but there’s something about this track that is without a doubt bubblegum pop at its core. There are quite a few Spice Girls songs that could have made it to this very short list, but “Wannabe” just sticks out.
Released in 1996, “Wannabe” was the British girl group’s debut single that started the Spice Girl craze that lasted for years. It has all the best elements of a bubblegum pop song: Glossy production, a danceable and addicting melody, sickeningly sweet lyrics, and a girl power philosophy. It doesn’t get better than this. Plus, the music video for “Wannabe” is a real throwback.
