Country Icon Slated To Receive Prestigious Military Award for Ongoing Support of the Armed Forces

Although both explored solo careers in the music industry, Big Kenny and John Rich found success when they formed Big & Rich during the early 2000s. Throughout the years that followed, the duo released songs like โ€œLive This Lifeโ€, โ€œRun Away With Youโ€, and โ€œSave A Horse.โ€ But outside the studio, Rich, like many other country artists, constantly found ways to support the military. And thanks to that ongoing support, Rich was recently announced as the recipient of the Bob Hope Award.ย 

From September 30th through October 4th, Tennessee will host the 2025 Medal of Honor Celebration. And during the special event, Rich will walk away with the prestigious military honor. According to a press release, โ€œAs a country music artist, songwriter and entrepreneur, John Rich has long been a vocal supporter of the military. Through his Redneck Riviera brand and charitable work, he promotes patriotism and supports veteran-focused causes across the country.โ€

Showing that Rich dedicated more than just time to the military, the press release added, โ€œTo date, he has raised nearly $2 million to support veteransโ€™ causes, including VFWโ€™s Return the Favor campaign and Folds of Honor.โ€

John Rich The Latest Country Star To Receive Bob Hope Award

As for the requirement to land the Bob Hope Award, the person had to support the armed forces ย  โ€œthrough their lifeโ€™s work in the entertainment industry has distinguished themselves by outstanding service to a positive portrayal of the United States Military in literature or film.โ€

While a special moment for Rich, the singer wasnโ€™t the first member of the genre to receive such an honor. Looking to the past, artists like George Strait and Oak Ridge Boys also held the title. But among all the stars who continuously supported the military, none were bigger than Toby Keith.ย 

Releasing the hit song โ€œCourtesy of the Red, White, and Blueโ€, the singer dedicated a great portion of his career to performing for service members overseas. No matter the danger that came with a concert, Keith made sure to honor those who put their lives on the line each and every day.
