Country Singer Mark Chesnutt Shares Update After Major Health Scare and Emergency Heart Surgery

Last month was a rough one for country star Mark Chesnutt. The โ€œOld Countryโ€ hitmaker was forced to undergo an emergency quadruple bypass surgery. Shortly before the emergency surgery, Mark Chesnutt announced to fans that he was having a heart health issue and needed to cancel a number of tour dates.

Now, it looks like the country singer is healing and looking forward to continuing his postponed tour. He recently posted a video of an old concert on Instagram, and mentioned in the captions that he is โ€œhealing at home comfortably.โ€

โ€œBut I canโ€™t wait to get back out singin with the band and the fans!โ€ Chesnutt said in the caption of the post.

The comments section of his announcement was full of well-wishes from fans.

โ€œGreat to hear youโ€™re taking some you time,โ€ said one fan.

โ€œLooking forward to seeing you in concert again!โ€ said another.

No updates were given on when Chesnutt would be hitting the road again, but we can expect at least another few months to pass before the singer is ready and safe to perform again.

A week earlier, Chesnutt announced that he was healing from the surgery. He noted that he โ€œgot a new heartโ€ as a result of the surgery.

What Was Mark Chesnuttโ€™s Health Issue?

Before undergoing the emergency quadruple bypass surgery, Chesnutt had to go to the hospital for a medical evaluation in autumn of 2023 for heart-related symptoms. In November, he said that he was taking a break from touring for his health.ย

An emergency quadruple bypass surgery will often be required if four of the heartโ€™s coronary arteries are blocked. Coronary blockages can be caused by a buildup of plaque in the arteries, insulin resistance, diabetes, or high blood pressure. Neither Chesnutt nor his team elaborated on what exactly his diagnosis was.

We wish Mark Chesnutt a speedy and comfortable recovery!
