โSisters of Avalonโ
Lauperโs first pick on hjer list of favorite songs to sing is a deep cut, the title track of her fifth studio album, Sisters of Avalon, which was released in 1996.
โItโs an underground thing,โ Cyndi notes of the tune, which she co-wrote with Jan Pulsford. โI play a little guitar and its rock.โ

โGirls Just Want to Have Funโ
Her second choice is an obvious one, her signature tune โGirls Just Want to Have Fun.โ
Lauper says she loves performing her breakthrough 1983 hit โbecause I never really know whatโs really going to happen.โ She adds, โDepends on the audience and itโs always fun.โ
โGirls Just Want to Have Funโ appeared on Cyndiโs debut solo album, Sheโs So Unusual, and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
โAll Through the Nightโ
Lauperโs third pick is another song from Sheโs So Unusual, โAll Through the Night,โ which was written by Jules Shear.
Cyndi explains that when she sings the tune, she starts thinking about French chanteuse Edith Piaf. She adds, โI know thatโs a little far-fetched, but thatโs, pretty far-fetched.โ
โAll Through the Nightโ reached No. 5 on the Hot 100.
โShineโ
Next on her list is another lesser-known tune from her catalog, โShine,โ the title track of her eighth album, which was released in 2002.
โIt makes people feel good,โ she notes.
โShe Bopโ
Lauperโs fifth and final choice is yet another hit song from Sheโs So Unusual, โShe Bop.โ
Cyndi jokingly explains that she likes singing the tune โbecause, letโs face it, sometimes weโre all just a bunch of wankers.โ The singerโs comment, of course, is a joking reference to the fact that โShe Bopโ is about masturbation.
Incidentally, โShe Bopโ peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100.
