Eddie Montgomery’s wife breaks her silence over Troy Gentry’s death

Montgomery Gentry’s Eddie Montgomery leaned on his wife, Jennifer, during the funeral service for his singing partner, Troy Gentry, last week at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.

During that service, Eddie’s fellow country stars Vince Gill, Keith Urban, Alabama’s Randy Owen and Travis Tritt offered him their condolences and support as he carries on without Troy, who died in a Sept. 8 helicopter accident. The support was certainly appreciated, but it’s Jennifer who has been there with Eddie day-by-day as he grieves for Troy.

Now, Jennifer has offered a message to Eddie’s fans on his behalf via Twitter.

We want to thank you for the outpouring of love, comfort, and prayers. Friends like you have helped us get through this difficult time.

She writes, “We want to thank you for the outpouring of love, comfort and prayers. Friends like you have helped us get through this difficult time.”

Notice the word “fan” never appears in that statement. Montgomery Gentry always made a point to call their fans “friends.” This is a time when Eddie is leaning on those friends the most.

Judging from the comments on Jennifer’s Twitter post, those friends will be there for Eddie when he hopefully returns to the stage someday.

In one post, Pam Preslar writes, “So very sorry for your loss. ? for Eddie. I hope he continues to sing after he takes the time he needs. Love MG forever and always.”

Jackie Clayton tells Jennifer, “Thank you for taking care of @LuckymanEddie. Tell him please don’t go away. We need him. Praying for God to provide strength.”
