Starting April 2, fans of both the Iowa Cubs and Fall Out Boy will unexpectedly cross paths. That’s because the legendary emo band, along with others, have partnered with Minor League Baseball and Official League to put out limited edition merch supporting their hometown teams.
For the uninitiated, the Iowa Cubs are the Minor League team associated with the Chicago Cubs, Fall Out Boy’s hometown team. It just so happens that the band put out a track titled “Heaven, Iowa” on their latest album, So Much (For) Stardust, so the connections keep on coming. While the band is celebrating the two-year anniversary of that album, they’re also gearing up to release their capsule collection with the Iowa Cubs on April 2.

More iconic bands have partnered with MiLB as well. The Gaslight Anthem are collaborating with the Jersey Shore BlueClaws and releasing their collection in May. Coheed and Cambria will release their collection with the Brooklyn Cyclones in June, while The Killers and the Las Vegas Aviators will drop theirs in July. Finally, Flipturn and the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp will release their merch in August.
Iconic Bands Are Collaborating With Minor League Baseball to Release Limited Edition Merch Collections
These Minor League Baseball x Iconic Rock Band capsule collections, dubbed the Local Legends series, will include limited edition apparel featuring specially designed art. Each design represents both the teams and the bands, drawing from their hometown imagery as well as their music.
The collections will be available at offiialleague.com and the specific Minor League team stores online. Merch designs come from Official League, a sports-related lifestyle brand that crafts high-end apparel. Their designs aren’t your typical team logo, but wearable pieces of art.
โMusic and baseball are more than just pastimes – they share a powerful connection to place, nostalgia, and community,โ said Official League VP of Music Monique Gilbert in a statement, per MiLB. โWith the Local Legends series, weโre celebrating the artists and teams that define the unique spirit of their cities, bringing fans something truly special.โ
