Faye Webster is back, armed with a new single and a North American tour. The indie-folk singer-songwriter has shared her latest song “But Not Kiss,” a bewitching offering that shows off her otherworldly vocals against a dazzling arrangement. It’s a song, Webster explained in a statement (via Pitchfork), that โcould be a really romantic song or a really anti-romantic song.โ
I want to sleep in your arms but not kiss / I long for your touch but don’t miss / Don’t want to regret any of this, she sleepily harmonizes in the song’s first verse. โItโs something Iโve looked for but struggled to find in other love songs, for them to describe this conflict or contradiction,โ she continued of the track, hinting that โBut Not Kissโ is a fair preview of what’s to come from the artist.
