TikTok phenom GAYLE has shared a new track, “i don’t sleep as good as I used to.” The song continues her string of up-tempo ragers. The lyrics are a commentary on feeling affected by the dangers of the outside world.
“‘i don’t sleep as good as i used to’ is about losing your childlike magical thinking on the world,” GAYLE shared in a statement. “the realities of the world slowly seep into you until one day you look up and you notice the world isn’t running as perfectly as you once thought it was and maybe if you’re quiet you can even possibly feel the weight we all feel living the human experience.”

The first verse of the song builds into an exploding chorus. Like her breakout hit, “abcdefu“, the track has punk-rock influences that meld perfectly with her pure pop vocals.
I don’t sleep as good as I used to / Melatonin don’t shoot shit / Fever dreamin’ of patience / I’m awake every night / Don’t sleep as good as I used to / I can’t even watch television / I don’t get it, the world we live in / Keeps me up at night
“i don’t sleep as good as I used to” punctuates the beginning of GAYLE’s North American Tour, scared but trying. The trek kicks off in Tampa, Florida, on October 17. Stops along the way include Los Angeles, Dallas, Nashville, Atlanta, and more. Find her full tour dates, HERE.
“The thought of going on my own tour is very intimidating to me,” Gayle previously said of the tour. “but over time, i’ve learned i can do things even though i’m afraid. with this tour, i am scared, but i’m ready to try.”
The newly released track follows “leave me for dead.” That track arrived with an accompanied visual directed by Acacia Evan, wherein GAYLE stages her own funeral.
GAYLE has had quite the year. She spent the summer opening for Taylor Swift on her lauded Eras Tour. Elsewhere she had a cut on the Barbie soundtrack and scored a partnership with Lucky Brand.
