Grunge Nostalgia: Pearl Jam’s Ten Reissue is A Sales Phenom

A reissue of Pearl Jamโ€™s 1992 album Ten went on sale March 24, and Sony Legacy is now predicting big numbers for the albumโ€™s first week of sales.ย  If the numbers are correct, Sony is predicting sales of 55,000 total copies, including 10,000 copies of the collectorโ€™s edition courtesy of fan club-pre orders.ย  These sales numbers would place the album on top of Billboardโ€™s Top Pop Catalog Albums chart for the week.
The label is offering the reissue at four different price points.ย  For $15.99, fans can purchase the legacy edition, which features the Brendan Oโ€™Brien remixed version of the album, plus several bonus tracks.ย  Audiophiles can purchase a vinyl version for $18.99, and the deluxe edition costs $31.99, which also includes a re-mastered version of Ten, the Oโ€™Brien remix and a DVD of the MTV Unplugged concert.ย  Over 10,000 fans have ordered the most expensive version, dubbed the Super Deluxe Edition.ย  Priced at $140, this version includes CD and vinyl versions of the deluxe edition albums, the MTV Unplugged DVD, a demo cassette, a commemorative print, and plenty of replica mementos and photos.

Breaking down the sales predictions, Legacy Recordings/Sony Music VP of Sales, Scott Van Horn, predicts that the Super Deluxe Edition will account for 10% of total sales, the Deluxe Edition for 50%, and the legacy edition for the final 40%.ย  Figures for vinyl sales are not included in Van Hornโ€™s predictions due to the difficulty of assessing these sales totals immediately.

Fans looking to purchase any version of the reissue can do so at Pearl Jamโ€™s website, as well as at any Best Buy retail location.
