Famous shoegazers Jesus and Mary chain have released a new single, the second off their upcoming album Damage and Joy, which drops March 24 via ADA/Warner. “Always Sad” is somewhat peppy despite its title, with singer Jim Reid and guest vocalist Bernadette Denning reflecting on a lost love that never really died away completely.
Damage and Joy is the band’s first album since 1998 and has been eagerly anticipated since the group reunited for a Coachella performance in 2007. Reid began teasing a new J&MC album as early as 2008, but an official announcement of new music didn’t come until December of 2016 when the band dropped lead single “Amputation”.
