While loving the chance to work with singers like Luke Combs, Thomas Rhett, and Justin Moore, Riley Green also expanded his solo career with โThere Was This Girl.โ And just last year, he released his third studio album with Donโt Mind If I Do. If that wasnโt enough, he also won single of the year thanks to his duet with Ella Langley on โYou Look Like You Love Me.โ Continuing to push his career forward, the country star recently teased a new song that had Green diving into the sting of heartbreak.ย
Posting a sneak peek of his new song called โShe Wrecked Meโ on Instagram, the lyrics surround the narrator looking back at some pivotal moments in his life. Although the narrator found himself with an injury that ended his football career, the lyrics proved that when one door closes, another one opens. โWhen I took that curb too fast/That busted knee/On a quarterback sweep/When I heard my future crack/But those brown eyes/Category five, blew right down Division Street/And brother, she wrecked meโฆโย

The Connection Between “She Wrecked Me” And Riley Green
With Green staying somewhat quiet when it came to dating, the lyrics from โShe Wrecked Meโ appeared to echo some key moments in the singerโs life. Before becoming a country singer, he attended Jacksonville State University. And during his time at college, he played as a Division I FCS quarterback.ย
While it may just be speculation, fans cared little about the origin of the song as they showered Green with praise. Climbing over 59,000 likes, comments read, โLove waking up in a morning to find gems like this at the top of my feed.โ Another person continued, โOh, look! It’s my favorite person in the world, shining like the star that he is.โย ย
Besides loving what he produced, a few fans believed the โbrown-eyed girlโ could be them. โEvery time you say brown eyes, you give me hope.โ And for those girls without brown eyes – โEven tho. I have blue eyes.. lol I can not wait for this song to come out.โ
Whether drawn from real life or not, Greenโs latest proves once again – he knows how to turn heartbreak into a hit song.
