“I love you,” Ballerini said after Herrera’s performance. “I’m so proud of your commitment to your artistry.”
Viewers will have to wait until May 13 to see if Herrera’s performance was enough to get her through to next week’s Finals.
After a one hour recap episode at 8/7c, host Carson Daly will reveal the contestants that made it to the last stage of the competition during the Live Semi-Final Results episode at 9/8c.
Iris Herrera Speaks Out About Her Journey on The Voice
In a February interview with Local Spins, Herrera revealed why she picked Ballerini as her coach.
โJust the way Kelsea speaks and the vibe that she brings to the table is so different, and personable, and unique,โ Herrera said. โI think that she has a good understanding of what it means to be an underdog. It was the best decision I could have made… Sheโs wonderful.โ
As part of Team Kelsea, Herrera said she’s learned not to pigeonhole herself in a specific genre or category.
โI think artists sometimes like to put themselves in boxes, or feel as if they have to be in a box in order to be successful,” Herrera said. “… Trusting myself in my artistry and in my music has been a big learning experience and learning curve. Itโs something that I strive to do going forward.”
She added, “Iโm just excited and ready for the future wherever and however that looks.”
