Is ‘Saturday Night Live’ New Tonight? Host and Musical Guest Details (11/2/24)

Although season 50 of Saturday Night Live kicked off a few weeks ago, the cast and crew decided to take some time off due to the Halloween season. With some fans wanting a special Halloween episode with the famous David S. Pumpkins, many were shocked when SNL went dark after hosting Michael Keaton and Billie Eilish. But with the cast rested and ready to go, here are all the details surrounding tonightโ€™s episode and who will be the host and musical guest for the evening.ย

For starters, there is a new episode airing tonight. With kids sifting through their Halloween candy, former SNL writer John Mulaney prepared to head back to Studio 8H. His return to the show marked his sixth appearance on SNL. The last time Mulaney took over hosting duties in 2022, he celebrated his entrance into the famed Five-Timers Club. With Mulaney knowing his way around the studio, the actor and writer is sure to bring the laughs back to SNL. But while hosting SNL, he wonโ€™t be alone as rising star Chappell Roan will be the musical guest.ย

Chappell Roan Struggles With Depression Before ‘Saturday Night Live’ Debut

Taking over headlines and the airwaves, Roanโ€™s career appeared to explode overnight. With songs like โ€œHot To Go!โ€, the singer opened up about the shock of becoming famous practically overnight. While loving her career in the spotlight and what she produced in the studio, she explained the โ€œpredatoryโ€ behavior she receives from fans.

Continuing to share her music and perform on stage, Roan revealed she suffered from โ€œsevere depression. โ€œIโ€™m in therapy twice a week. I went to a psychiatrist last week because I was like, I donโ€™t know whatโ€™s going on. She diagnosed me with severe depression โ€“ which I didnโ€™t think I had because Iโ€™m not actually sad.โ€

Using therapy to explore the depression, Roan placed the blame on her rising fame. โ€œI think itโ€™s because my whole life has changed. Everything that I really love to do now comes with baggage. If I want to go thrifting, I have to book security and prepare myself that this is not going to be normal.โ€

Continuing to navigate her life in the spotlight, donโ€™t miss Roan and Mulaney on โ€˜Saturday Night Liveโ€™, airing tonight at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
