“It Felt Admirably Perverse”: Nick Cave Responds to Bob Dylan’s Recent Tweets About Him

Recently, Bob Dylan has become incredibly vocal on X. Whether it be recommending restaurants or praising departed comedians, it seems the 83-year-old icon has found a newfound streak in social media savviness. That being so, the most recent Dylan comments that have raised eyebrows was his post about Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Dylan recently saw Cave in his band in Paris, France at Accor Arena. The whole show seemingly memorized Dylan. However, Cave’s song, “Joy,” seemed to particularly inspire Dylan so much that he had to take to X to speak on the matter.

Bob Dylan’s Types His Praises

In the post, Dylan wrote on X, “Saw Nick Cave in Paris recently at the Accor Arena and I was really struck by that song ‘Joy’” and “He sings ‘We’ve all had too much sorrow, now is the time for joy.’” Subsequently, Dylan added, “I was thinking to myself, yeah that’s about right.”

Dylan left his comments short. Yet, anything the man says is impactful regardless of its length. That being so, when Cave learned about Dylan’s presence and his comments, he took X to share his thoughts. “I was happy to see Bob on X” and “It felt admirably perverse, in a Bob Dylan kind of way. I did indeed feel it was a time for joy rather than sorrow. There had been such an excess of despair and desperation around the election, and one couldn’t help but ask when it was that politics became everything,” said Cave on The Red Hand Files.

Cave closed out his comment by stating, “Since I doubt I’ll get an opportunity to thank him personally, I’ll thank him here. Thank you, Bob!” Furthermore, Cave also described the moment as a “lovely pulse of joy.”

Nick Cave’s Admiration for Dylan

Cave, who is currently on The Wild God Tour, is an outspoken Dylan fan. In addition to his comments thanking the artist, Cave has covered numerous Dylan songs to show his appreciation. Some of those covered songs include, “Death Is Not the End” and “Wanted Man.”

On a side note, it’s great to see Bob Dylan and his wit back in action on social media.
