Having performed on stage since the 1960s, Ozzy Osbourne watched as his love for heavy metal helped him become an icon in the genre. Performing in bands like Black Sabbath, Osbourne gained the name “Prince of Darkness” as he sold over 100 million albums. Contributing to some of the most legendary moments in music history, the rock star gained entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the band Black Sabbath in 2006. But now, Osbourne once again entered the Rock Hall as a solo artist. And there was no better person to help celebrate his moment than actor Jack Black.
Although known for his roles in Tropic Thunder, Kung Fu Panda, and The Super Mario Bros. movie, Black also helped create the band Tenacious D with his friend Kyle Gass. Together, the band released albums like The Pick of Destiny and Rize of the Fenix. Holding an Emmy, Grammy, and several Golden Globes, Black relished getting a chance to celebrate Osbourne, listing the nicknames the rock star goes by. Describing the influence songs like “Crazy Train” had on him, Black declared, “Sure, you could go stream Post Malone and Taylor Swift and get all the warm hugs you need for your broken hearts. OR you could stay up all night and get your minds blown by Ozzy’s entire catalogue for the first time. Holy s**t! You kids are so f***in’ lucky.”

Outside of his thoughts on heavy metal, it seemed that Osbourne was also a huge fan of Black. Discussing their ongoing friendship, Osbourne revealed Black invited him to the premiere of School of Rock back in 2002. “Jack invited my family to the School Of Rock movie premiere in 2002. I’ve always been a big fan of his. Jack is one of the few great actors that is also a genuine rock and roller and not acting the part.”
As for fans, they couldn’t help but shed a tear watching Osbourne be inducted to the Hall for a second time.
“Why am I crying with this @OzzyOsbourne induction??” one fan wrote. “I cried the 1st time I ever saw @OzzyOsbourne live, and I cried tonight watching him get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist FINALLY. Long Live the Prince of Darkness,” another added.

Back in April, Osbourne sat down with Rolling Stone to discuss his long career in music and how his long list of accolades impacted his life. While thrilled over his success, Osbourne said, “Music has been the best thing I’ve ever decided to do. When you’re writing an album, you don’t go, ‘This is that good. We’re gonna get into the Hall of Fame one day.’ My ego loves it [laughs]. But I’ve never been one of those ego-ed out guys. I’m not blasé about it. It’s better than being booed. There’s a lot of people out there that never got in. I’m very honored.”
While honored by the induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and his legacy, Osbourne concluded, “I’m still Ozzy.”
