Jack White Playing “Best Shows of His Life” on No Name Tour, Releases Shows on Streaming

In July, Jack White surprised fans by releasing his album No Name with no marketing or press releases, encouraging fans to download the album and distribute it themselves. He later released it on streaming platforms, and recently embarked on a tour supporting the album. White kept up the surprises by releasing 10 full-length live shows available to stream from the tour.

White’s record label, Third Man Records, dropped the recordings on September 19 on social media. The recordings are from a selection of the small venues White has been playing in the U.S., as well as two festival sets.

“Day in and day out, these performances – announced mere days in advance, selling out in an instant – are garnering laudatory praise and ‘best concert I’ve ever been to’ reviews across the board,” wrote Third Man Records’ archivist Ben Blackwell on social media. He added, “A quarter century into his touring career, Jack White is playing the best shows of his life and the audio here is all the proof you need.”

Jack White Releases Full-Length Live Shows on Streaming from No Name Tour

The shows are available to stream on Nugs.net, and can be purchased as downloads as well. Jack White has also explained recently that there’s a reason he’s been playing small, intimate venues, as it’s a bit of an unconventional tour for someone at Jack White’s level.

He took to social media last month and explained, “Lotta folk asking about when we are going to announce ‘tour dates’, well, we don’t know what to tell you but the tour already started at the Legion a couple of weeks ago.” He added, “People keep saying that these are ‘Pop up shows’ we’ve been playing, well, you can call them whatever you want, but we are on tour right now.”

White further detailed the process of the No Name Tour, writing, “These are the ‘shows.’ We won’t really be announcing dates in advance so much, we will mostly be playing at small clubs, back yard fetes, and a few festivals here and there to help pay for expenses.”

Earlier this month, Jack White announced a string of U.K. shows as well. On September 13, tickets for the show at Islington Assembly Hall cost £55 before fees, according to a report from NME.
