Jackson Browne to Perform at Debut Concert by Jason Crosby’s New Group, The Crosby Collective, Featuring Classic-Rock Mashups

Jackson Browne has confirmed his first live performance of 2025. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer will be a special guest at the debut concert by The Crosby Collective, a group led by veteran multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby. The show will take place on January 18 at the famous San Francisco venue The Fillmore.

According to a press statement, The Crosby Collective was conceived by Crosby and media executive/producer Joe Poletto. The statement explains that the group “pushes the outer limits of musical exploration and expression while creating a live atmosphere that charges the spirit through a vibrant current of phonic movement and innovation.”

The Crosby Collective’s concert will feature interesting mashups pairing elements of songs by The Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Brothers Band, Pink Floyd, and other well-known acts.

The Crosby Collective recently released its debut single, “Casey’s Eclipse.” It’s a mashup featuring the lyrics of The Grateful Dead’s “Casey Jones” and the music of Pink Floyd’s “Eclipse.” You can check out the track at the group’s official YouTube channel and CrosbyCollective.rocks.

More About Jason Crosby

Crosby has collaborated with a variety of musicians over the years. His credits include membership in Browne’s touring band. The Crosby Collective features several other musicians who tour with Jackson, including multi-instrumentalist Greg Leisz and backing singers Alethea Mills and Chavonne Stewart. Also playing with the collective is Dead & Company and ex-Allman Brothers Band bassist Oteil Burbridge.

Crosby’s other musical projects have included his own Jason Crosby & Friends, the Terrapin Family Band, and Burbridge’s Oteil & Friends outfit.

In a statement, Jason explained one of the inspirations for The Crosby Collective.

“If you’ve seen Jason Crosby & Friends, Terrapin Family Band, or Oteil & Friends, then you’ve probably heard ‘Friend of the Lithium’—that’s the Grateful Dead lyrics set to Nirvana’s chord changes,” noted Crosby. “It’s always gotten a great response, and with Joe and Oteil’s encouragement, we came up with a whole series of tracks in that vein. It pays the utmost respect to the spirit of the songs, while creating a new experience for them.”

Added Poletto, “It’s not just about the mashups, it’s about the musicianship. We have some of the best musicians in the scene coming together to create an amazing live show. It’s something that’s never been done on this scale before, and we’re excited to showcase the songs.”

Burbridge chimed in, “Jason and I have been playing together for a long time. This show is truly one-of-a-kind and we’re all looking forward to getting on stage together as much as possible this year.”

Jackson Browne’s Other Performance Plans

Browne currently has only one other show on his schedule. He’ll be performing at gospel/soul great Mavis Staples’ 85th birthday celebration on December 6 in Chicago at the Auditorium Theatre. Contemporary country artist Margo Price also will take part in the concert.
