Zach Bryan recently sat down with Bruce Springsteen to chat about career, life, art, and insecurities for Rolling Stone‘s Musicians on Musicians issue. Bryan’s contemporary, Jelly Roll, has reacted to the insightful piece, praising Bryan as the “greatest of this generation.”
โThis Zach Bryan and Springsteen interview is remarkable,โ Jelly Roll wrote on Twitter. “I couldnโt imagine how Zach felt in that moment. What a beautiful and inspiring thing to witness. Always cheering for Zach, he is the greatest of this generation.โ

Many fans praised Jelly Roll in response to his support, sharing love for his new album and his constant willingness to lift up those around him. “You know what else is remarkable? Beautifully Broken! Great album dude,” one person wrote.
Another fan commented, “Every interview you are doing is not only reaching the hearts of the audience but the interviewers to. You can see it in them.” Yet another wrote, “Thatโs a hell of an endorsement coming from you. Kudos for being a real one.”
Jelly Roll Praises Zach Bryan for Chat with Bruce Springsteen About Defying Genre Pigeonholing
Jelly Roll’s praise of the Bryan/Springsteen interview is definitely not misplaced; it’s an insightful conversation between two artists, taking a look at how they’ve established their careers. One, through decades and defining eras; the other, with a few albums under his belt, looking for the next big project.
โI donโt want to be a country musician,” Zach Bryan told Springsteen. “Everyone calls me it. I want to be a songwriter, and youโre quintessentially a songwriter … No one calls Bruce Springsteen a freaking rock musician, which you are one, but youโre also an indie musician, youโre also a country musician. Youโre all these things encapsulated in one man. And thatโs what songwriting is.โ
Bryan shared how Springsteen is “a hero” to him because he refuses to let genres define him. Zach Bryan is looking to bust through pigeonholed genres as well and let his songwriting do the talking. Springsteen was supportive of his goal. โYou can do whatever you want, man. Youโre in the right place,โ he told Bryan.
