Jelly Roll has always been one to wear his heart on his sleeve and utilize his mistakes to improve others. That being so, Jelly Roll’s philanthropic endeavors extend far beyond a dollar sign. Rather, the man always has his boots on the ground and typically shares some wise words while he’s at it. And he recently did just that when he paid a visit to the Riverbend maximum security prison in his home city of Nashville.
In the world of pop culture, Jelly Roll’s criminal past is widely known, and respected, and consequently, his transition is immensely admired. Though, despite his booming self-growth, the man never forgets who he used to be.

Jelly Roll Imparts To The Riverbend Prisoners
While visiting Riverbend Prison, Jelly Roll did far more than talk to a few prisoners and take some good photo ops. Instead, he took to the stage and imparted his wisdom to all the prisoners listening. In short, Roll’s speech touched on his past and his journey to the future. Though, we will not butcher his speech with our synopsis. Here is what Jelly Roll profoundly shared with those listening.
“Listen to what I’m fixing to tell you right now. Who you were is not who you are and who you are right now is not even a tenth of the man you can actually f— be,” he started. “You can be thinking the wildest thing right now but whatever you’re dreaming of could be too small still” and “I encourage you to dream bigger when you go back to your cell tonight.”
“When they close that door after last count time, I encourage you to start visualizing your future” and “And believing that things can change for you in a way you never thought it would change for you. That you don’t have to go back to that bulls— anymore.” Jelly Roll concluded his speech by stating, “We don’t have to spend the rest of our life suffering, poor and f–king addicted and struggling anymore. Today is the day to break the chains, gentlemen.”
In addition to being a musician, it seems Jelly Roll has a knack for being an orator as well. Props to one of country music’s classiest acts—delivering motivation and words of wisdom for people from all walks of life.
