Growing up with a love for stars like Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, Joshua Ray Walker eventually stopped being a fan and stepped on stage. Releasing songs like โWorking Girlโ, โSexy After Darkโ, and โVoicesโ, country music welcomed Walker to the Grand Ole Opry in 2022. While dedicating himself to his music, tragedy struck last year when he announced he was diagnosed with colon cancer. And while undergoing chemotherapy for the cancer, doctors revealed the cancer spread to his lungs. Surrounding by love from friends, family, and fans, Walker recently shared an update that showed the fight wasnโt over.ย
With doctors wanting to explore the cancer in his lungs, Walker decided to undergo surgery for a biopsy. After the procedure, the country singer offered an update about what happened. โThey poked five holes in my ribs, deflated my lung, sewed it back together, reinflated it, and they are going to be taking a drainage tube out of it later today.โ

While fans continued to support the singer, Walker posted another update to Instagram. And this time – it came with great news.ย โIโve been anxious to update you, but I wanted to wait until I was off pain meds and all the most recent scans, tests, and lab results had come back. Iโm so excited to share with you that my pre-surgery diagnosis was incorrect, Iโve beat the odds and to everyoneโs complete surprise, my lungs are cancer free!โ
Joshua Ray Walker Thanks Fans For Their Financial Support
Thrilled about the news from the doctors, Walker added, โAs far as my doctors can tell, there is no discernible amount of cancer anywhere in my body at the moment!โ
While remaining positive throughout his cancer battle, Walker promised his fight wasnโt over. Speaking about the future, he took a moment to thank fans for not just their continued support but for their donations. โMy main goal now is to be the healthiest version of myself possible, and that would be an impossible pursuit if not for your help conquering the insurmountable financial situation I found myself in. Your donations have and will continue to help me pay my personal and medical debt.โ
Ending his message, Walker declared, โIโm so excited to be alive, Iโm excited to share this incredible news with you, and Iโm excited to make the most of this opportunity. I love yโall so much, thank you for loving me back.โ
