Releasing her first album in nearly four years with 143, Katy Perry shared her excitement by kicking off her The Lifetimes Tour back in April. Looking to celebrate her career in the music industry with fans all over the world, the tour will take her to South America, Europe, and even Asia. Running throughout 2025, Perry offered fans the chance to pick a song she would perform during each concert. And recently, she appeared somewhat shocked when those in attendance picked “Not Like The Movies.”
For any fan of Perry, they know she currently found herself going through a split with her partner Orlando Bloom. Together for nine years, the news came as a shock. But with the saying, “The show must go on”, Perry took the stage at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, on Tuesday.

Although a night of celebration, it quickly turned personal after revealing the results of the “Choose Your Own Adventure” segment. When the results revealed “Not Like The Movies”, Perry looked at the crowd, insisting, “You’re gonna make me sing this song in this time in my life?” She added, “OK, we’ll do it! Because you voted for it. I’m gonna try not to cry. Don’t worry. I won’t cry.”

Katy Perry Reveals Details Writing “Not Like The Movies”
Perry couldn’t even pick the next song as she explained fans also voted for “The One That Got Away.” But no matter what, the singer, wearing boots made of cotton candy, said, “I let you choose the song tonight because I like to pick an album for every country that I go to and for the U.S.A., I picked Teenage Dream because U.S.A., you could be a teenage dream baby. You better get it together. I’ll always have that feeling for you.”
Sharing a glimpse into her past, Perry explained the inspiration behind the song. “This next song I wrote in my 20s… after my first divorce.” She continued, stating she would “try and hold my composure while I sing it a week before my period.”
While Perry called it The Lifetimes Tour, she had no desire to end her career just yet. She discussed the title, admitting, “I will be introducing people to a few new songs, and I’m calling it Lifetimes Tour because I’m celebrating the whole lifetime of songs thus far.”
