NEW YORK, Sept. 29, 2016 — ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, the world leader in performing rights and advocacy for music creators, today announced that global pop icon and singer-songwriter Katy Perry has renewed her agreement with the society. ASCAP will continue to license public performances of her successful songwriting catalog throughout the world.
โASCAP was in my corner before anyone knew who I was,โ said Perry. โThatโs one of the many reasons Iโm loyal to them. Theyโve always believed in me and my music, and theyโre great at supporting and protecting their members. ASCAPโs a vital part of my team.โ
With well over 100 million records sold globally, Katy Perry is one of the most successful radio and recording artists of all time. Her #1 2008 single โI Kissed a Girlโ began an unstoppable streak of global hits, including milestones like Teenage Dream, the first album by a female artist to yield five #1 Billboard Hot 100 singles โ โCalifornia Gurls,โ โTeenage Dream,โ โFirework,โ โE.T.โ and โLast Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)โ – all co-written by Perry.
