How Joan Cusack Inspired Keith Urban’s Latest Single
Keith Urban broke onto the American country music scene in 1999 with his self-titled debut album. Throughout his career, the New Zealand native has released 11 studio albumsโmost recently, 2020’s The Speed of Now Part 1. Fortunately for diehard fans, the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” singer will drop his new record High on Sept. 20.
โWhat makes you โhighโ can mean whatever you want it to mean,โ Urban told Billboard. For the four-time GRAMMY winner, it means the following: โPlaying guitar, writing songs and the place where I always feel high โ playing live. Every night I get a chance to bring an energy and a release to people.โ
Last month, Urban released the party anthem “Wildside” as the album’s first single. He explained that he drew inspiration from Joan Cusack’s character in School of Rock.
โSheโs the principal of a school by day, all prim and proper,โ Urban said. โAnd then, a few tequilas at night and all bets are off.โ
