Kurt Cobain Solo Album Announced

nirvana
It’s a huge day for Nirvana fans: filmmaker Brett Mogren, the director behind the Cobain-centric documentary Montage of Heck, announced the release of a Cobain solo album, due November 6 via Universal Music.

The album will feature all tracks from the Montage of Heck soundtrack, as well as a dozen unreleased tracks, a comedy sketch and several audio montages.

Thematically, the album focuses more on Kurt’s creative process and delves into how he wrote songs.ย โ€œ[Itโ€™s] curated to feel as though one were sitting in Kurtโ€™s living room watching him create over the course of an afternoon,โ€ Mogren told Billboard. “These are all just Kurt by himself with the guitar. These arenโ€™t multi-track, finished songs or work-ups, but theyโ€™re extraordinary, and I think they provide a tremendous insight into his [creative] process. I think they further our understanding of Kurt, both as a musician and as a man.โ€

The release of the currently untitled album coincides with the physical release of Montage of Heck on Blu-Ray and DVD
