After Lana Del Rey announced her country album Lasso in January, details have been pretty scarce. She released a cover of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver, and teased a song called “Henry, Come On.” Then, she released the song “Tough” with Quavo. Other than that, though, it’s been slim pickins for fans. Now, however, she’s revealed a bit more about the album, including when she’ll potentially drop new music.
In a new interview with Vogue, Del Rey spoke about playing at Paris’ Rock en Seine Festival, with the performance being a full-circle moment for her. She also shared some hints about the sound of Lasso, claiming it won’t be a “heavy departure” from her usual work.

โAll my albums are somewhat rooted in Americana, unless itโs an album like Honeymoon which has a jazz flair, so I donโt think it will be a heavy departure,” she told Vogue. โIf anything, it will just be a little lighter lyrically, and more pointed in a classic country, American, or Southern Gothic production โ which again, so many of my songs already are.โ

Lana Del Rey Details Lasso‘s “Lighter” Lyrics, Claims Sound Will Still Be “Rooted in Americana”
Lana Del Rey is definitely known for her exploration of classic Americana themes and the experiences of a certain breed of American girl. According to Del Rey, she’ll keep the sound that comes with her Americana style, but she’ll potentially explore lighter themes in her lyrics. It will be an interesting departure, but not one that will alienate fans of her previous work.
As for when this album will drop, Del Rey didn’t exactly give a solid timeline. Even her fans know to take any dates with a grain of salt. Previously, there was a rumor that the album would be out this September. However, details from the Vogue interview suggest otherwise.
“We have two more [singles] coming out by the end of the year!โ she said. Fans on Reddit, however, have learned not to believe anything until they see a pre-order link.
“As a longtime Lana fan, the biggest lesson Iโve ever learned is to never believe in Lana when she says a particular date,” one fan wrote on a Reddit thread. Another commented, “until i see a preorder link i donโt believe her at all,” while yet another fan wrote, “Iโm just happy to hear she didnโt forget about Lasso.”
