Legendary Rapper Scarface Hospitalized, Shares Social Media Update From ICU

Brad Jordan rose to fame in the late ’80s as Scarface, a member of Houston hip-hop legends the Geto Boys. He later found success as a solo rapper, teaming up with the likes of Nas and Jay-Z. In recent years, the “Now I Feel Ya” star has faced serious health battles, including receiving a kidney transplant from his son in 2021. And a recent social media post has fans once again worried over the 53-year-old hip-hopper’s health.

Scarface Shares Social Media Post From Hospital

In a Saturday (Aug. 24) post to Instagram, Scarface shared a picture of him lying in a hospital bed hooked up to multiple machines. “Ouch… Grateful,” he wrote, adding three praying hands emojis.

Scarface didn’t elaborate further on what had landed him in a hospital bed. However, the Houston Chronicle noted that one staff member in the photo was associated with the facility’s Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, possibly pointing to a heart-related condition.

This isn’t the first time the “On My Block” singer has shared his health struggles with social media. In September 2021, the producer received a life-saving kidney transplant from his son Chris after suffering organ failure following a respiratory-related illness.

“Why not? It’s my dad,” Chris Jordan told Houston media outlet KHOU 11. “He gave me life you know so it was only right that I return the favor by extending his.”

Fans, Fellow Hip-Hop Legends Send Well Wishes

When Scarface shared an Instagram post from his ICU bed, support and concern came pouring into the comments section—from both fans and his hip-hop community.

“Get well homeboy!” commented West Coast hip-hop icon Warren G. Chance the Rapper also dropped three “praying hands” emojis in the comments section.

Another West Coast rapper and producer, DJ Quik, left his well-wishes on the post. “Brad, we got more work to do bro bro,” wrote the “Born and Raised in Compton” artist. “Ain’t no time to be out of time.”

With his fellow Geto Boys, Scarface helped put southern hip-hop on the map. The Houston native also headed Def Jam South from 2000 to 2005, where he helped bolster rapper Ludacris’ career.
