The MTV Video Music Awards have announced the second round of global performers for the upcoming awards show. On the list for the new round of performers is rap icon Lil Wayne, who will be making his return to the MTV program after first taking the stage for the show more than a decade ago. Wayne, a 14-time Video Music Awards nominee, is up for Best Hip-Hop VMA this year.

Others on the list include Anitta, Doja Cat, Kelsea Ballerini and TOMORROW X TOGETHER. The Video Music Awards show will air live from New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Tuesday, September 12 at 8 p.m. ET.
Last year, Anitta took home the Best Latin VMA award. Doja Cat won in 2022 for Best Choreography. Ballerini, one of country music’s rising stars, will be making her first appearance at the VMAs this year, on her 30th birthday. Her premiere performance includes a song from her EPย Rolling Up The Welcome Mat (For Good). The K-pop group TOMORROW X TOGETHER is also set to premiere a new single during their VMA performance.
In the first round of performers, the MTV VMA’s announced that Demi Lovato, Karol G, Stray Kids and Mรฅneskin will also be taking the stage at the show on September 12.
As far as the list of nominations for this year’s awards show, Taylor Swift, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, Miley Cyrus and Kim Petras are among the acts nominated at the female-dominated 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). Also this year, Shakira will receive the MTV Video Vanguard Award.
Swiftโs eight nominations make her the leader of the pack, with SZA close behind with six; and Cyrus, Petras, Nicki Minaj, Rodrigo, Doja Cat and Sam Smith coming in with five. South Korean pop group BLACKPINK, Shakira and Diddy each scored four.
The nightโs biggest honor, Video of the Year, is female-dominated, with Cyrus nominated for โFlowers,โ Swift for โAnti-Hero,โ SZA for her breakthrough hit โKill Bill,โ Rodrigo for her latest single โvampire,โ Minaj for โSuper Freaky Girl,โ Doja Cat for โAttentionโ and Smith and Petrasโ history-making collaboration, โUnholy.โ The latter song made Smith the first non-binary artist and Petras the first transgender woman to have a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
