Local Natives Drop New Track “Fountain Of Youth”; Deliver Impromptu Set

Earlier this week Southern California rockers Local Natives released the song “Fountain Of Youth, a tune that addresses our tense political and social climate of 2016.

“In a time of cynicism dressed as realism, when it feels like the world might be falling apart around us, I believe there is reason to be hopeful, optimistic, and idealistic,” said guitarist Taylor Rice of the song, which will appear on the band’s forthcoming album Sunlit Youth. “Socially, politically, and personally I’ve felt many defeats, but come back to the realization that this is our world to make. There’s a lot left to do, but we should feel hopeful that we are the ones who can do it, and we can do whatever we want.”

On July 7, Local Natives played an impromptu set on the roof of their rehearsal space in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles. With only a few hours notice, a crowd of approximately 1,500 young people gathered along the street to watch. Billboard reports that “before the band had even started, a mass of fans had filled the lawn and pavement surrounding the quaint standalone one-story hillside building. More fans spilled out down the sloping driveway onto the street and sidewalks below, as well watching from the adjacent apartment complex and its rooftop.” An additional 75,000 people streamed the event live on Facebook.
