Graham Nash found his friend and bandmateโs discovery amusing. โIn the โ70s, he was a recording fool. He just found a bloody album he made with Hendrix. โOh yeah, I forgot that.โ Weโve got to listen to thatโฆ I want to listen to every track he ever recorded in case he recorded with Al Jolson.โ
The tapes, recorded just before Hendrixโs untimely death in 1970, are expected to be released soon, according to archivist John McDermott. Nash is said to be โcleaning upโ the tapes so they are of releasable quality.ย
The tapes should come as no surprise to Hendrix fan, as he and Stills developed a close and public musical friendship in the years leading up to his death. Hendrix even played guitar for a track off Stillsโ 1970 self-titled debut album.ย
There is no projected release date for the album yet, but the prospect of an expansion in Hendrixโs already incredible catalog is certainly worth the wait.
