Hendrix fans rejoiceโ€”Stephen Stills reported that he recently found an album that he and the late guitar god recorded more than 30 years ago. Stills found the tapes in his home, mixed in with a large amount of both released and unreleased material he has accumulated over the years. His luck can be credited partially to his relentless recording and collecting habits.ย

Graham Nash found his friend and bandmateโ€™s discovery amusing. โ€œIn the โ€˜70s, he was a recording fool. He just found a bloody album he made with Hendrix. โ€˜Oh yeah, I forgot that.โ€™ Weโ€™ve got to listen to thatโ€ฆ I want to listen to every track he ever recorded in case he recorded with Al Jolson.โ€

The tapes, recorded just before Hendrixโ€™s untimely death in 1970, are expected to be released soon, according to archivist John McDermott. Nash is said to be โ€œcleaning upโ€ the tapes so they are of releasable quality.ย
The tapes should come as no surprise to Hendrix fan, as he and Stills developed a close and public musical friendship in the years leading up to his death. Hendrix even played guitar for a track off Stillsโ€™ 1970 self-titled debut album.ย

There is no projected release date for the album yet, but the prospect of an expansion in Hendrixโ€™s already incredible catalog is certainly worth the wait.
