Manasseh Samone and Sister Trio Sorelle Duke it Out with Adele’s “Someone Like You” on ‘The Voice’

It was three against one Monday night (March 27) on The Voice.

A night of Battle Rounds, in which the coaches—artists Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, and Chance the Rapper—pit two of their own team members against each other for a chance to advance in the competition, and saw goosebump-inducing vocal warfare.

Especially when Team Chance’s powerhouse vibrato Manasseh Samone and harmonious sister trio Sorelle battled it out with Adele’s “Someone Like You.”

Chance chose the song for the battle so that the Ohio-formed trio Sorelle—comprised of sisters Madi, Ana, and Bella—could work on their intricate harmonies and give the 22-year-old Dallas, Texas native Manasseh a chance to go big with her impressive range.

The four of them in the ring delivered a chilling performance of the heart-aching ballad, going back and forth between the sisters’ three-part harmonies and Manasseh’s show-stopping vocals.

The camera flashed between the four coaches who were visibly stunned by the display. At the close of the performance, they were all on their feet to give praise.

“That’s my team,” Chance said proudly over the roar of applause.

“No one’s heard that song like that,” Kelly told the singers. She lauded Sorelle for their “intricate harmonies” from which they never strayed. She then told Manasseh, “You’re the reason this show exists. You’re incredible.” Her vote was for the latter but told Chance he couldn’t go wrong either way.

Blake admitted his worries at the beginning, wondering how the four of them would blend, but his tune quickly changed. “Now, I never want you guys to not sing together,” he said, adding it was almost hard to believe they performed the song live because it was such a tight performance. Blake opted for Sorelle to move on.

Niall added he couldn’t believe what he had just heard, calling their performance the stuff of goosebumps. It was Sorelle for Niall, too.

Ultimately, the vote was left up to their coach. “I’m so proud of you guys,” he told the four of them. “That was a masterful performance on both parts.”

Chance kept Sorelle around to advance to the Knockout rounds, but he used his Playoff Pass and sent Manasseh directly to the Playoffs.
