Following the release of her beautiful new album My Piece Of Land, Amanda Shires stopped by the American Songwriter office to play us her new track “Pale Fire,” accompanied by husband Jason Isbell. Surprisingly enough, the track is one of the couple’s first full collaborations with each other – according to Shires, she and Isbell hardly ever write together.
“We’ve been married almost five years, and when we got together, we’d write on separate sides of the house,” she said in an interview with American Songwriter earlier this year. “It’s kind of like being in a candy store, you know you could write with him or you could write by yourself, but we were sort of saving it for later, you don’t want to eat all of the candy at once.”
