Mick Jagger and his Rolling Stones bandmates Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, as well as Metallica, have all shared tributes to late British singer and actress Marianne Faithfull, who died January 30 at age 78.
Faithfull became a U.K. pop star after she scored a Top-10 hit in 1964 with โAs Tears Go By,โ one of the earliest songs Jagger and Richards wrote together (Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham, who discovered Marianne, also received a co-writing credit). The Rolling Stones later had a hit with their own rendition of the tune.

In 1966, Faithfull left then-husband John Dunbar to begin a relationship with Jagger. The couple stayed together until 1970, and Faithfull served as inspiration for many Rolling Stones songs, including โYou Canโt Always Get What You Wantโ and โWild Horses.โ
Marianne also co-wrote โSister Morphineโ with Jagger and Richards. She recorded and released the original version of the song in 1969. The Stones later recorded their own version of the tune, which they included on their 1970 album Sticky Fingers.
During the late 1960s and into the 1970, Faithfull struggled with serious drug addiction issues. She also experienced numerous health issues. That being said, Marianne enjoyed a prolific solo recording career, and also collaborated with many artists. In addition, she received acclaim for her work as a film and stage actor.
